Like it or not, it’s little-old-you versus the big government. Some people are fortunate enough to have inherited money from their heir’s estates. Others are smart and good stewards of their money/credit as they begin their adult life. Those who live smartly, frugally, exercise self-discipline, or are heirs to these estates have a different financial start than those who grew up in broken homes, void of family values, and on the welfare system. All that said, it may seem like those who have this extra financial advantage are more privileged than those who don’t. That’s not true! Those with less appreciate more, and those with more can end up with less because they didn’t appreciate it enough and squandered their wealth. When you factor all that in, everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed; it’s a matter of strategy, determination, attitude, luck, and learning as to whether or not we make rags into riches, or riches into rags.
With all that out of the way, it’s time to call Democrats out for pretending that their Big Government solution will prove how much they care. All people need to do is give more money to the government, and the government will fiscally and responsibly manage the money, and make sure that people are mentally well, off of drugs, gainfully employed, and well educated.
Oregon is a great example of just how (not) successful Democrat policies and legislation can be. The State is one of the most (so-called) progressive states in the nation. Democrats completely run Oregon’s government, they hold a supermajority right now. The State has not had a Republican Governor since the late ’80s, and mail-in ballots began in the ’90s. But take it from Oregon’s record that mail-in ballots should be a federal solution for the elections; no reason to worry about a potential future where only Democrats are elected; that’s just a conspiracy! From the ’90s until now, Democrats have had the opportunity to prove that they are the party that keeps That is what Americans view as progress. Have the Democrats delivered on their promises?
The United States is facing a near-future food shortage. The world shipping industry is not moving much of anything to the United States. If you pull up VesselFinder.com or MarineTraffic.com, move the map over to almost any port in the world, and observe the coastline, you’ll see 100’s if not 1000’s of ships anchored, waiting to unload. Much of the world sources products via seaway from China, and almost nothing leaves China as of the date of this article. China’s halt to shipping bottlenecks the global shipping industry on a global scale.
What does this have to do with little you versus big government? The founding fathers of the United States separated America from Great Britain over a 3% tax as well as gun control measures imposed by King George III. This article isn’t about gun control exclusively (shall not be infringed), but it is about the collective ways in which we the people have allowed our Government to pick away at our freedoms law by law, regulation by regulation, ordinance by ordinance, and even by executive order.
You’re 18 and fresh out of high school. You get married, have kids, and get a full-time job. Maybe you decided to go to college and accrue massive debt that is nearly impossible to escape. Perhaps you discover in the process that college is not for you. Your wife decides to give it a go, but this is when she finds out she is pregnant. She’s already enrolled. She thinks my husband and I can raise a baby, I’ll work part-time and I’ll go to school. She gives it a go. School, a child, a husband, and working, it’s all too overwhelming. She has to drop out, and the debt looms. The child and their income qualify both for an Income-Based Repayment plan. The monthly payment is $0. The debt accumulated for dropping out halfway through the first semester? $10,000.
Both Mom and Dad are working full-time. Most of Mom’s wages cover childcare, Dad’s wages allow the rest of the income to go towards the bills. It’s not enough! Even though both work 40 hours a week, and for good companies, with great benefits, their wages for their entry-level positions have both still in the poverty bracket. Raises are not keeping up with inflation.
A certain portion of the population is outraged by crumbling infrastructure, various social injustices, and an endangered species; whatever the cause must be, the cause must be addressed, the media is at the ready to ensure maximum social outrage, and there is a party looking for every opportunity to raise taxes as a means to right these wrongs, and exploit anyone willing to be the next crisis actor. Yeah perhaps that actor’s outrage is genuine, doesn’t matter, he’s a useful idiot to the wolves, and the media-consuming sheep are hungry to jump on the next bandwagon. It’s a societal obligation, our government is here to help, and everyone must tithe to this next great cause. It is our fiscally responsible Government’s obligation to convince the majority that everyone must contribute financially to fix the issues. The media has convinced the majority, and the world is now a better place!
The will of the majority has rendered Mom & Dad’s income even less available to themselves. Why? The bump in taxes that occurs at every level of taxation drives up the costs of products, goods and services; there’s even a few cents less after taxes are deducted. The wealth they didn’t have has been redistributed, but it was for the good of the many. But Mom & Dad need more help! Swearing never to be a mooch on the system, they need the very system designed for those who work part-time jobs. They apply for food stamps…
Mom & Dad are not the only ones being penny pinched by taxes, their employers are struggling to pay their own debts, at home, and at work. Many wealthy people are in the same financial situation as those who have less money. Contrary to those who envy the wealth of those who have it, many who have wealth are just as good with their money as those without it. In that, they spend what they have within a margin.
At work, these employers are looking at their profit margins. They have shareholders who want to see a certain buffer between cash on hand, cash coming in, and cash going out. The employer is paying for things that are taxed at every level, and each of those levels experienced a tax increase too. The company wants happy consumers, happy investors, and happy employees, to maintain quality, and maintain the same profit margin; that buffer. Less of a profit margin is less of a profit period, especially in the eyes of speculative investors. Consumers are all feeling the pinch, but employers were feeling it first. Businesses file and pay taxes quarterly.
The company is faced with finding non-obvious ways to adjust spending for the sake of maintaining that profit margin. Do we layoff a small enough amount of employees (too many would spook investors and drop the stock value), look for less expensive suppliers at risk to the quality of products, or license some of our technology so that other companies can sell our products as their own, or raise prices on consumers? All for the common good we raised those taxes!
Dad loses his job, and Mom and Dad are at odds. Dad gets a new job, but it doesn’t pay very much. It’s too much, Mom and Dad get divorced. Dad has to pay more in child support than what they both had left over when they are married. He also has to pay back the loan he took out from his retirement to hire a lawyer for the custody battle. Mom is working, collecting a check from work, receiving child support, and receiving food stamps. Dad finds a studio apartment and is able to make ends barely meet between paychecks. He doesn’t qualify for any assistance, she has custody. She also gets a massive tax refund, none of which is factored in. Dad wakes up, it was all a nightmare. He is still married with children.
That nightmare get’s Dad thinking… I am able-bodied, I can operate a mop, a vacuum, and use cleaning supplies, heck I even own a minivan, and The Dollar Store sells some quality cleaning products for $1. You know, before it all went to $1.25. Dad decides he is going to start a home office to operate a janitorial business that cleans office buildings, but this business is going to be on the up and up. Those Democrats want me to succeed, that’s what it means to be progressive. He calls the city to make sure there’s no issue with his plans. They tell him, he’s good to go, it will only be $200 for a home occupation permit. @$!% he can’t afford that. What kind of nonsense is this? Okay, wait… I’m low income, I’m on assistance, surely you can waive this fee for me? NOPE! If you so much as move your body for commercial purposes from your home, there’s a $500 fine. Well, that dream is crushed. Food assistance only provides just enough to ensure there’s no money to save.
This gets Dad thinking… What else can I do to save money? I can take the next tax return and have a well drilled, have a septic tank put in, and disconnect water and sewer from the city. I can go hunt and fish for food, I even have a 12′ kayak that I found at a garage sale, that’s perfect for fishing. I can put solar panels on the house after 4 or 5 tax returns pass by, and disconnect power from the grid, the first 3 tax returns are needed to fund all the other stuff. I can burn garbage, sell the metal cans for scrap metal, and take that which cannot be burned to the recycling center.
Dad looks into all of these options. A well is fine by the state but banned within city limits. A septic tank for an already connected property goes against city and state law. Can’t even collect rainwater to save on consumption, unless it’s contaminated by the roof (then it’s only good for flushing down the toilet; maybe watering plants. Hunting licenses cost money, and so do butchers and ammunition. Fishing? Yep, have to have a license whether you catch any or not, bait and tackle? That 12′ kayak? It’s $15 a year for the permit because it’s 2′ longer than the ones that don’t require a license at all. Solar panels? You can have them installed, but you cannot disconnect from the grid within city limits. Disconnecting any utility will result in the dwelling being deemed uninhabitable; the neighborhood hoarder hoarding? Yeah, that’s habitable…
Freedom is an illusion. Our Government is corrupt, and our virtuous society is content and distracted by various complexes; military, corporate, mainstream media, social media, video games, and more. We’d assemble to end all of this, but that desire is satisfied even though our online protests can simply be ignored. Those who were on the brink of being mentally unwell, the ones who faced being pushed further into poverty with rising inflation, turned to opioids and other drugs, living in tents under bridges and along the freeways. Democrats give them needles and tell them to use them safely. Their policies created this problem in Oregon, California, New York, and Michigan, and they are campaigning right now to fix everything their poverty-creating policies create.
Lastly, Democrats do not look at people in the USA and see Americans. They see people who they can divide into various marginalized communities based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and other protected. The media, as if by direction of the Government (conspiracy) points their lens at various people, who fit into these marginalized communities their identity policies created; social constructs, prisoners of our own collective minds, group thinking together, with media chose spokesmen who speak for all in the marginalized community.
If you are LGBTQ+, you vote Democrat. If you are black, you vote Democrat. If you are a person of color, you vote Democrat. Your community is your pride, and your individual thoughts if different are frowned upon. You are accepted by how well you obey, comply, and echo the same things everyone else in your community. Democrats hid behind their masks when they created the KKK, they hide behind them with Antifa, they were the quickest to shame those who objected to mask and vaccine mandates. They do not want us united, they want us to see and hear what they want us to see and hear, and discuss only that which they approve. The speech they hate is hate speech, the object of assault is the problem, not the person who wielded it. The needs of the many are not equal to, but superior to the rights of the few. The greatest minority of them all is a free and independent thinker who needs nobody else for self-validation, doesn’t care about society’s latest cause, sees every citizen as American, respects individuality, does their own research outside of any opinion editorialized for them, and recognizes the greatest minority of them all is not on a Democrats social construct plantation, but indeed the individual. Someone who is not a prisoner of the hivemind.
