Science to Believe In
A study finds that increasing use of high-intensity military sonar and offshore wind work poses a major threat to whale populations. Researchers found that high-power frequencies transmitted by military SONAR cause physiological stress and altered diving behavior in beaked whales, which could lead to their death.
“Nature Scientific Reports,” confirm the negative impacts of military sonar on whale populations previously linked to beached whales and their deaths.
It’s not just the frequency of the sonar harming whales, but how loud those frequencies are transmitted. Military SONAR is much louder than those produced by commercial fishing, shipping, or oil and gas exploration.
Denying the Science
Despite the risks posed, liberal activists now turn a blind eye to the real threats facing whale populations. Recently, seven dead whales were found in the vicinity of an offshore wind farm. These deaths raise serious concerns about the potential impacts of this industry on whale populations. Governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, announced that offshore wind work will continue, despite the ongoing investigations and discovery of the dead whales.
This liberal hypocrisy is nothing new. Many left-wing organizations, including Greenpeace and PETA, claim to care about the environment and animal welfare. In reality, they prioritize their political agendas over protecting the natural world. Rather than address the real threat to whales, these organizations focus on promoting left-wing ideologies.
The Real Way Forward
If we want to protect whale populations, we must be aware of and address the threats posed by military sonar and offshore wind work. It’s essential to consider the differences in frequencies and transmit power when evaluating the risks posed by various human activities to whale populations. We must minimize the impacts of these human activities on these magnificent creatures. There is no reason to sacrifice our national security or our energy independence.
