Has Governor Abbott Been Compromised?

Gov. Abbott’s Big Rant About Big Tech

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) goes on a big rant about big tech and says censorship of conservative views will be “against the law” in Texas soon.

Back in 2018, CNN made claims that the alternative social media website GAB posted anti-semitic remarks. In CNN’s article, one of the things they wrote was:

When a Twitter user called for Gab to be shut down on August 9, the @getongab account responded with this: “Dude named ‘Krassenstein’ doesn’t support free speech. Imagine my shock.”

They went on to say:

Half an hour later, Gab’s account shared a Christian Bible verse that refers to Jews who do not believe in Jesus Christ as members of the “synagogue of Satan.”

WOW & OUCH! We have to admit that assuming someone is Jewish because of their last name is pretty anti-semitic, and then to throw that Bible verse in to the equation, that just seem to solidify it.

We’ve reached out to GAB for comment on their post here. They consolidated the two videos above, stating they were confused about Governor Abbott’s sudden change of tune, and we are awaiting their response.

In the meantime, we have questions about whether CNN did a fair job of reporting on the story, because they never asked you any of these questions, nor did they tell you if they asked GAB any of these questions:

  • Did the mainstream media get the whole story?
  • Who in the company posted that anti-semitic tweet?
  • Were they representing the views of their company, or did they go rogue?
  • If they went rogue, is it possible for you to accept that this individual was an anti-semite, and that GAB didn’t know?
  • Does that person still work for GAB?
  • What does God say about forgiveness?
  • Does the mainstream media make as much money on finding out if there is more to the story?
  • What generates the most amount of revenue for the mainstream media?
  • Does creating tension rather than fostering unity make more money from the media?
  • Does tension result in civil unrest that results in activism to report on?

And finally, CNN portrayed the Bible verse in a way that makes the verse appear anti-semitic, and IT IS NOT! In non-religious and in general context, there are those things that are, and those things that are not, in every facet of life.

An individuals beliefs and their relationship with God is not between us and them. A persons relationship with God is between them and God, PERIOD. NO MATTER how much we think we know what is right and wrong, we will lead no one in to sharing our beliefs in anything, if we forget to live by the fact that God’s grace is enough.

As it is with any religion, there are different denominations. With Judaism there are those of the faith like Rabbi Arthur Green, who wrote a great article titled Blending Torah and Activism. In his article he wrote:

I am a scholar and teacher, having devoted much of my life to shaping a Judaism that will work both for me and for others in our contemporary world…How then do we fulfill the Torah? We can do so only collectively, by sharing the merits of our good deeds with one another. “The Children of Israel” — as a group  — “did all that Y-H-W-H had commanded Moses (Ex. 28:32).

And while there are definitely other denominations of Judaism, there are Reform Jews as the author Maria Feldmen writes about in her article titled Advocacy & Activism: Why Advocacy is Central to Reform Judaism where she quoted Rabbi Eric Yoffie’s speech to the UAHC Executive Committee in February 1998:

Reform Jews are committed to social justice. Even as Reform Jews embrace ritual, prayer, and ceremony more than ever, we continue to see social justice as the jewel in the Reform Jewish crown. Like the prophets, we never forget that God is concerned about the everyday and that the blights of society take precedence over the mysteries of heaven. A Reform synagogue that does not alleviate the anguish of the suffering is a contradiction in terms.

If you are wondering why we didn’t call Maria Feldmen’s article great, it’s because when you promote activism it’s important to know when to draw the line. Maria Feldmen in her article wrote:

Joining a Reform congregation does not mean one subscribes to a particular political perspective.

However, Maria goes on to contradict herself when she quotes a particularly political person. A man who uses his massive wealth to shape the political world towards the radical left, George Soros:

“Yet, our diversity need not deter us from fulfilling our prophetic mandate. Reform Judaism stands for certain principles, and those who join our congregations take pride in our long history of “speaking truth to power.

What Maria Feldmen continued to say was everything that the reformed Republican Party under Donald J. Trump represents, which is Great!:

“Just as most members know that a hallmark of Reform Judaism is an openness to the “other” – whether lesbian or gay, interfaith families, or those with special needs

Maybe Maria Feldmen didn’t really contradict herself when she said:

Joining a Reform congregation does not mean one subscribes to a particular political perspective.

Maria Feldmen quoting George Soros, may have been her way of revealing where she stands on particular political perspective, but where she stands is not in line with where Daniel Morchy stands. In this video he addresses the anti-semitism emanating from the left, and his decision to #WalkAway:

As you just saw, President Trump is a very pro-Israel President, and members of own family are Jewish. Which brings us to our next clip which has us giving props to the mainstream media for their coverage of President Trump in this video:

We began this article looking at the contradictions of Greg Abbott, and we showed you the mainstream media contradicting a trend of Trump Bashing instead to Trump Praising. They couldn’t tear him down because they covered the whole story, they showed you President Trump in the raw.

Do you think the mainstream media covered GAB fairly? Has Governor Gregg Abbott been compromised? Or did he just ignorantly assume that all Jews share in the same beliefs because of the ones who approached him? If so he might not have been compromised, but he might just be ignorant, and unintentionally anti-semitic towards Jews who don’t share in the reformed beliefs.

In the past we’ve said “You Decide!”. But in this article were going to ask you just to keep an open mind, none of us really know the truth, and we cannot trust the mainstream media. They aren’t always right.

Please keep your comments positive and uniting. We’ve got to try to beat the left in future elections (unless the conspiracy theorists are right), and the only way to do that is to unite in our political beliefs, and to accept each other for our differences outside of politics.

God bless everyone in the ways that matter most to celebrating our shared beliefs while not quarreling about our differences.
